Description
Constructed in the 1960's, the Berliner Fernsehturm (or TV Tower) at a height of 368 metres, is Germany's tallest structure and Berlin's most prominent landmark, almost always featuring in any movie filmed in Berlin. It can be seen from pretty much anywhere in the city and quite a bit beyond. The restaurant and observation deck, both within the sphere, give excellent views of the German capital city and on a clear day, you can see for miles. For the 2006 World Cup Football Championships, held in Germany, the sphere was transformed into a giant silver and magenta coloured football. The TV Tower is one of Berlin's most popular tourist attractions, with more than 1 million visitors per year taking the lift 200m to the top in just 40 seconds. This black and white image has added texture.
